DOHA: Minister of the Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thanihas crowned the winners of the final rounds of the annual Purebred Arabian Camel Racing Festival for the Sword of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for the 2024-2025 season, which was held at Al Shahaniya racecourse on Tuesday afternoon.
The minister crowned the winners of the four main rounds of the Al Hail and Al Zamoul age group (open rounds) for the camels of Their Excellencies the Sheikhs, with golden symbols. “Al Haba”, owned by Al Shahaniya Camels, was crowned with the golden sword in the Al Hail Open round, and “Mubadah”, owned by Al Shahaniya Camels, won the golden shalfah in the Al Hail Omani round, while “Al Shababi”, owned by the Presidential Camels, and “Munadi”, owned by Al Shahaniya Camels, received the two golden daggers in the Al Zamoul Open and Omani rounds, respectively.
He also crowned the winners of the six main rounds of the Al Hail and Al Zamoul age group competitions (general rounds) for the tribes’ camels, which were held on Monday afternoon. Mani Ali Al Shamsi, owner of the camel “Mubashara”, was crowned with the silver sword after winning the title of the open Al Hail round.
The minister crowned Nasser Abdullah Al-Misnad, owner of the "Sasco" camels, and Mubarak Saeed Al-Mazrouei, owner of the "Noda" camels, with the two silver shawls after they won the two Omani production races, respectively.
He also awarded the three silver daggers to Hamad Rashid Al Ketbi, owner of the “Al Qassam” camels, Mohammed Sultan Al Ketbi, owner of the “Dhari” camels, and Hamad Jarallah Al Baridi, owner of the “Mublash” camels, after they won the “Zamoul” open, “Omani” and “Production” rounds, respectively.
He also crowned Nasser Abdullah Al-Misnad andNahyan Hamad Al-Ameri with the symbols of points for the general and production rounds, respectively, and also honored the companies sponsoring the festival.
The final day's competitions were attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Sheikhs, a number of Their Excellencies the ambassadors accredited to the country, members of the tribes, and a crowd of camel racing fans.
