THE Health Control Section of the Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality found as many as 684 carcasses of sheep and goats and 106 carcasses of calves and cows during its comprehensive inspection drive held during the Eid Al-Adha holidays. The municipality also destroyed 10 carcasses of cows and sheep for being unfit for human consumption.
The inspection tours also covered various other outlets in different areas of the municipality, including shops selling fish, commercial complexes, groceries and restaurants. This was done to ensure their compliance with Law No 8 of 1990 on Human Food Regulation.
95 food outlets inspected at Shehaniya in July
The Health Control Section of Al Shehaniya Municipality carried out 95 field visits to food establishments within the municipality in July to ensure their compliance with the specifications regarding preparation and handling of food.The campaign resulted in the closure of a food facility due to the presence of foodstuffs unfit for human consumption. In addition, a record of violation of Law No 8 of 1990 was issued. Besides, the veterinarians supervised 587 carcasses of animals of which one was destroyed for being unfit for human consumption. The municipality also collected QR15,000 as penalty from defaulters.
Drive to keep Doha Corniche clean
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment, represented by the Department of Public Hygiene, conducted periodic campaign during Eid Al Adha holidays to keep Doha Corniche clean around the clock in order to receive visitors.
