Tribune News NetworkDohaGalfar Al Misnad’s Human Resources (HR) team kicked off a new employee engagement initiative titled ‘Nayi Disha’ with a vibrant interactive session at the Wellspring workers’ accommodation camp recently.‘Nayi Disha’, the Hindi translation of ‘New Direction’, is the latest venture by the leading contracting company in Qatar to motivate and engage their more than 7,000-strong workforce. Going forward, the Nayi Disha sessions will be regularly held at Galfar Al Misnad’s camps with the aim of enhancing the lives of employees through awareness sessions, entertainment and games. “The objective of this initiative is to engage workers to boost their morale, imbibe awareness on crucial topics and increase the feeling of belongingness to the company,” explained Galfar Al Misnad’s Deputy Manager - Human Resources Aparna P. Krishna.The HR team conducted the event by mixing serious information with lighthearted fun to ensure that the workers were actively involved throughout the session. The event began with a general introduction of the company and its work. This was followed by an informational awareness session conducted by Galfar’s Welfare Officer MD Arshad Jamal, on the health hazards of alcohol abuse. The workers were then quizzed about the company and the upcoming World Cup tournament to be held in Qatar. They were also given an awareness session on basic etiquette and manners, on which they answered questions later. The entire HR team then led the group in some fun games in which the participants competed enthusiastically to win prizes. The event ended with refreshments and snacks for all. “This was a new initiative taken up by the HR team and was well received by the employees. The event was a grand success and we have decided to continue such events at the various camps at regular intervals,” said Galfar’s Senior General Manager Joy G. Pettah. Galfar Al Misnad has been operating in Qatar for more than 26 years, and has regularly received national and international recognition for its commitment to the wellbeing of its employees. “We believe that our employees are our greatest strength and their safety and wellbeing is our first priority always. Initiatives like Nayi Disha play an essential role in motivating our team to tap into their individual talents and also contribute adeptly towards the betterment of the organisation at large,” said Galfar’s Executive Director Satish G. Pillai.
