The Malayalam Department of MES Indian School recently organised an orientation session for the teachers of Malayalam language as per the directive from the Qatar Chapter Principal Forum.
A total of 34 Malayalam language teachers from 11 CBSE schools across Qatar participated in the one-day orientation-cum-professional development programme.
The objective of the language workshop was to highlight the importance of Malayalam as a mother tongue, enhance linguistic abilities, develop teaching methodology based on the latest syllabus and the importance
of reading in the modern techno-driven world.
Inaugurating the session, MES Indian School Principal Hameeda Kadar underscored the importance of learning and acquiring proficiency in one’s mother tongue as the present day demands language competency to express thoughts and ideas fluently.
The first session was conducted by Shaiju, a teacher of Malayalam language, on the topic ‘The role of teachers in Malayalam language acquisition’. This was followed by Madhu Abhimanyu’s lecture on the ‘Importance of Reading in The Modern World’.
The presentations were conducted in an engaging manner with group discussions at the end of each presentation involving the active participation of all the participants at the programme.
Jayanthi Arun, the convener of the day’s programme, in association with the teachers of the Department of Malayalam, coordinated the event.
At the end of the programme, the participants were awarded with certificates of participation.
