CDF-Qatar, in collaboration with Malabar Gold & Diamonds, organised its 7th Grand Iftar for the second consecutive year, on March 8.
The vibrant and spiritually uplifting event held at the Majestic Ballroom, Holiday Villa Hotel & Residence, Doha, brought together more than 2,500 Sri Lankan community members living in Qatar. It offered them a memorable evening of togetherness, reflection, and celebration during the holy month of Ramadan.
CDF-Qatar, a dedicated voluntary social working team, continues to play a pivotal role in fostering unity and community welfare among Sri Lankans expatriates in Qatar. The Grand Iftar served not only as a moment of religious observance but also as a platform to strengthen social ties and promote cultural harmony.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Qatar HE Roshan Sithara Khan Azard was the chief guest. Her participation added immense value and underscored the significance of the event within the Sri Lankan community.
Another highlight of the evening was the presence of Dr. Ahmad Abdur Raheem Thahhan, head of the section of Islamic cultural (Muslim Community), Shaikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar). His valuable presence reinforced the spirit of unity and intercultural understanding.
The event also featured a spiritually enhancing keynote speech by Usthaz Rasheed Hajjul Akbar, who shared insightful reflections on the importance of social service, compassion, and the role of individuals in contributing positively to society. His words deeply resonated with the audience, inspiring a collective sense of responsibility toward humanitarian service.
Adding value to the event, Faisal Al Hudawi from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) delivered an informative presentation on traffic and road safety awareness, highlighting essential safety measures and encouraging responsible behaviour among community members.
The evening concluded with a warm sense of camaraderie, gratitude, and spiritual fulfilment, as families and friends came together to share iftar in an atmosphere of unity and mutual respect.
