Green Energy & Environmental Services (GEESC) hosted an exclusive Iftar gathering in the Park Hayat Hotel on March 12, bringing together distinguished government officials, industry leaders, and environmental experts to discuss sustainability, innovation, and environmental challenges in Qatar.

The event, held in the spirit of Ramadan, reaffirmed GEESC’s commitment to advancing sustainable solutions and fostering collaborations that align with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

Addressing the attendees, GEESC General Manager Eng Amar Hamid Elawad emphasised the company’s dedication to environmental excellence and its role in helping Qatar achieve sustainability goals in line with global standards.

He stated that in the face of growing environmental challenges, the role of a leading environmental consulting firm has never been more crucial.

Since its establishment in 2012, he said, “GEESC has provided innovative and effective solutions in environmental management, monitoring, and sustainability. Through strategic partnerships and cutting-edge technologies, the company supports organizations in improving resource management and minimizing environmental impact.”

He said, “Over the years, GEESC has been at the forefront of environmental initiatives in Qatar, offering specialised services such as Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) to ensure that infrastructure and industrial projects comply with national and international environmental regulations.

“The company has also been instrumental in deploying advanced air and water quality monitoring systems to assess and improve environmental conditions. Waste management solutions remain a priority, with the implementation of sustainable strategies to minimize waste and promote recycling. In addition, GEESC has conducted several studies on marine environmental protection to safeguard Qatar’s biodiversity and ecosystems.”

The Iftar event saw the participation of several key VIPs and prominent stakeholders from diplomatic, governmental, and business sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to environmentalsustainability.

Among the distinguished guests were representatives from the US Embassy Commercial Service Team, including Janelle Santerre Weyek, Commercial Counselor; Golda Agnazata, Commercial Specialist; and Srinivasa Murthy, Commercial Specialist.

Le Thi Thu Ha, the first secretary and head of the economics section at the Vietnam Embassy, was also in attendance. The American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Qatar) was represented by Executive Director Xiomara Henriquez and Vice Chairman Jay Turk, while Fatima Yunusa, Programs Associate at the US-Qatar Business Council (USQBC), also participated in the discussions. Other notable attendees included Mohamed Abdelhadi and Majed Al-Qahtani from Wellven, Dr Khalid Elawad from PHCC, Babiker Osman from Hawkama International, Abdul Majeed from Gulf Lab, and Ahmed Haris from Worley/CPChem.

The event also welcomed representatives from several major companies and institutions collaborating with GEESC on various environmental initiatives, including MWANI, ARCON, Al Mana Group, Public Works Authority (PWA), Gulf Lab, Arab Qatari Company for Poultry Production (AQC Poultry Farm), Dornier, Al Habari, QCON, Doha Bank, Aero Freight, Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC), Qatar Development Bank (QDB), Qatalum, United Environmental & Technical Services (UETS), and Al Emadi.

With the growing demand for specialised environmental consultancy, GEESC as a leading Qatari company has expanded its operations beyond Qatar, including its involvement in Saudi Arabia’s NEOM project, one of the region’s most ambitious sustainability initiatives.

Eng Elawad reiterated that the company’s vision extends beyond Qatar, aiming to export Qatari expertise in sustainability abroad and become a global leader in this field, By leveraging technology, innovation, and collaboration, GEESC continues to drive impactful environmental solutions that align with Qatar’s NationalVision 2030.
