The Department of Nutritional Sciences at Qatar University (QU) successfully concluded a special event titled ‘Ramadan Flavours: Nourishing Body, Mind and Spirit’, celebrating Nutrition Month and preparing the community for a healthy Ramadan.

The event attracted a diverse audience and featured a range of interactive activities and practical workshops designed to promote a balanced and healthy lifestyle during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The key highlights of the event included:

• Healthy cooking & food safety practicescTypeface:> Participants were introduced to healthier cooking techniques and important food safety tips, ensuring that they could enjoy nutritious and safe meals throughout Ramadan.

• Healthy lifestyle in RamadancTypeface:> Valuable insights on how to stay active and maintain proper nutrition and hydration for all life stages during Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of overall well-being during this holy month.

• Diet & body composition check: The event provided an opportunity for attendees to track their diet progress and body composition before and after Ramadan.

• Busting nutrition myths: Attendees uncovered the truth behind common nutrition myths, learning practical and evidence-based tips to maintain a healthy diet during Ramadan.

In the spirit of giving, attendees had the opportunity to support those in need during the blessed month of Ramadan through donations in collaboration with Qatar Charity.

Dr Maya Bassil, head of the Department of Nutritional Sciences at QU, stated, “The Department of Nutritional Sciences is proud to host this important event, aimed at fostering a balanced and healthy lifestyle during the holy month of Ramadan. Our primary goal is to equip the community with the knowledge and tools necessary to celebrate Ramadan in a way that enhances both physical well-being and spiritual growth.”
