Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny has praised the historical relations between Lebanon and Qatar, as well as Qatar’s support for his country at various stages.

Rasamny said the relations between Lebanon and Qatar are historical and strong, with Qatar consistently providing support to Lebanon at various stages, reaffirming its unwavering stand by Lebanon.

He emphasized the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries through joint projects, especially in areas such as ports, airports, and the transportation sector, which would contribute to supporting economic development and improving infrastructure in Lebanon.

He said that the ministry’s priorities are focused on rehabilitating the infrastructure that was damaged by the recent Israeli aggression on Lebanon, with a particular emphasis on repairing roads, border crossings, and vital facilities such as ports and airports.

He revealed that the ministry is working in coordination with the relevant authorities to assess the extent of the damages and develop a plan for rebuilding what was destroyed by the recent Israeli aggression, within the available resources, and in cooperation with international donor organizations, including ongoing negotiations with the World Bank regarding the financing of rehabilitation projects valued at $250 million.

He stressed that the safety of Rafic Hariri International Airport is a top priority, noting that strict measures have been taken to ensure the security of the airport and passengers. These measures include enhancing coordination between the relevant security agencies, equipping the airport with the necessary technical capabilities, and improving inspection and surveillance processes to combat any smuggling attempts, he added.
