The 16th round of the 2024-2025 season of the QBF League will take place on Wednesday, showcasing thrilling and pivotal competitions as the league progresses into its decisive phases.
The opening game will feature Al Sadd facing off against Qatar SC at 8:30pm, followed by a second game between Al Wakrah and Al Shamal at 10:30pm, promising an evening of intense excitement for basketball enthusiasts.
The games will continue on Thursday, with Al Gharafa set to compete against Al Khor, and Al Ahli going up against Al Arabi in two significant encounters within the league.
The previous round saw an exhilarating victory for Al Rayyan over the defending champions, Al Arabi, with a final score of 80-75. This win solidified Al Rayyan’s position at the top of the league standings with 30 points from 16 matches, maintaining a lead over their nearest rivals, while Al Arabi remains in second place with 26 points.
Additionally, Al Ahli secured a crucial victory against Al Gharafa, winning 81-66, which elevated Al Ahli’s total to 25 points, placing them in fourth position.
The competition among the clubs remains intense following the latest results, with Al Shamal positioned in fifth place with 24 points, closely followed by Al Gharafa in sixth place with 19 points. Al Wakrah hold the eighth position with 18 points, sharing this rank with Al Khor, which occupy the ninth and final place.
As the tournament progresses, anticipation builds for the upcoming semi-final games, which will feature the top four teams following the conclusion of the second division. Scheduled for March 17, 2025, Al Gharafa Hall will host these crucial matches that will determine which teams advance to the final stages. The first-place team will compete against the fourth-place team, while the second-place team will face the third-place team in two highly anticipated encounters.
The competition will resume on March 20th with the second round of best-of-three games to establish the league champion in the semi-finals. Should no team secure the title, a third round will take place on March 22. Additionally, decisive rounds are set for April 3, 7, and 10, where the winners of the semi-finals will vie for the championship, while the losing teams will compete in a special game on April 7, 2025, to determine third and fourth places.
