Doha Bank CEO R Seetharaman has been honoured with the ‘Best CEO of the Century for Peace and Humanity Award’ by World Humanitarian Drive (WHD) at the Trilateral Global Summit in London, recently, the bank said in a statement on Saturday.
The event connected and brought together global leaders, diplomats, corporate heads, investors and policy makers on a single platform. The sessions were hosted at Worshipful Mayor of Croydon ‘s Parlour and UPF Hall on June 19 and 20.
Seetharaman was recognised for his continuous commitment to sustainable development over the past three decades, encompassing green mission, philanthropy, human development, continuing education, knowledge sharing, promoting peace and supporting the underprivileged.
Seetharaman said, “Convergence and innovation are the key elements for a successful organisation. People, process and technology should converge effectively for the benefit of the organisation. Innovation should be a continuous process in organisations and not a one-time affair.
“The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development came into force from beginning of 2016 after adoption of the same at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in September 2015. Some of the SDG goals which invoke significant interest to me encompass areas such as poverty, food security, energy, economy, climate and sustainable
cities.
“The top four emitters in carbon emissions were China, the US, the European Union and India. International trade is considered an important means of implementation for inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction. Ending hunger, achieving food security, and improved nutrition by 2030 as called for in SDG 2 is mainly about domestic policy outcomes, although agricultural trade can be a vital means.”
