The Visa Support Services Department of the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the International Labour Organisation office in Sri Lanka, held an introductory seminar in Colombo on Tuesday.
The services of the Qatar Visa Centers and their role in protecting expatriate workers and facilitating work procedures were explained. Representatives of civil society organisations and trade unions attended the seminar.
Major Abdullah Khalifa al Mohannadi, Director of Visa Support Services Department at the MoI and Mohammed Ali al Meer, representative of the Ministry of Administrative Development Labour and Social Affairs, explained the process of obtaining employment visas and completing the required steps through Qatar Visa Center.
The opening of the Qatar Visa Centre in Sri Lanka is part of the opening of 20 centres in eight countries -- Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, and Tunisia. These centres will serve to speedup the visa procedures.
