Birla Public School recently organised workshops for teachers as part of its Continuous Professional Development Programme. The workshops were held for different sections considering the requirement of the learners of various age groups.
The workshops featured ‘Autism Spectrum Disorder’ for Kindergarten teachers, ‘Classroom Games and Teaching Aids’ for Primary teachers, and ‘Foundation to Child Psychology’ for Middle School, Secondary and Senior Secondary teachers.
The workshops were facilitated by experts from Icon Training Centre, Qatar. The resource persons motivated the teachers to be child-centered, to seek parental support and to understand age-appropriate psychology of the learners.
The teachers also received orientation on how to identify the signs of psychological disorders in early age so that the children can get help at the earliest.
The resource person inspired the teachers to follow Howard Gardeners’ Theory of multiple intelligence and also emphasised the importance of games and teaching aids as well as healthy interactions with students to improve academic performance.
The resource person stressed that parents play an important role and therefore, they too should be guided about the support to be given to the children. The teachers participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm saying it was an enriching experience for them.
