The decks have been cleared for the grand opening of the Ramadan Market at the Doha Convention and Exhibition Center on Friday.
The exhibition, which will run from May 10 to 30, features over 200 shops from over 25 countries. About 20 percent of them are local businesses. The expo will remain open from 2pm to 12am, featuring exhibitors from Oman, Kuwait, Turkey, as well as from other parts of the world. The one-of-its-kind market is organised by QSports in collaboration with United Expo WLL.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, QSports Business Development Manager Aya Kassab said the expo will feature fashion wear, jewellery, perfumes, home décor, spices, and a variety of other products.
“The Ramadan Market is more than just a shopping extravaganza; it’s an opportunity to simply relax, eat some good food, get an adrenaline rush while playing exciting games and basically spend some good family time,” she said.
The market will also feature a fun zone with the world’s largest bounce castle, active inflatables as well as skill games. In addition, the venue will feature over 15 food options that visitors can choose from.
Kassab said the market has activities for everyone.
“We realised the importance of indoor entertainment, particularly during hot summer and the fact that most children need to stay engaged while their mothers shop, so this fun-filled consumer fair with diverse range of interests is just the right answer. The market has been designed to offer a complete family package and a fun night out entertainment. Top restaurants and cafes will also dish out mouth-watering light cuisine while children can enjoy in a purpose built kids area featuring the world’s largest bounce castle.”
Talking about Qatar’s efforts in promoting small businesses, Kassab said, “There is huge encouragement from the government for the Qataris and non-Qataris to start their own businesses in order to have a self-sufficient economy.”
She said this was the first time they were organising a Ramadan Market and they are planning to make it a regular event like the other events that they have organised such as the Summer Entertainment City.
