The Minister of Public Health HE Dr. Hanan Mohammad al Kuwari on Thursday inaugurated the Al Hemaila Medical Center for workers in the Industrial Area.

The event was attended by a number of officials from the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS).

The facility, the second expatriate workers' health centre to be opened this year after Mesaimeer Health Center, has a capacity to handle 24,000 visiting patients per month and it will be operated by QRCS under an agreement with MOPH.

The centre includes 11 general clinics, in addition to specialized clinics in the fields of cardiology, dentistry, ophthalmology, radiology, echo, and two in-patient clinics.

It also includes sections for acute cases, minor surgeries and bandage, laboratory, pharmacy and triage.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Kuwari asserted that the ministry is keen on providing workers with comprehensive health services where they are located.

The minister said that the inauguration of Al Hemaila Medical Center comes as part of the expansion of health projects in order to meet the Qatar's health needs.

"A number of other health projects for workers, including three hospitals, a specialized center for diabetes-associated diseases and a medical commission unit in Ras Laffan, are scheduled to be inaugurated soon," she said.

The minister pointed out that a total of three health centers were opened in July, two of which are health and wellness centers affiliated to the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) as well as the Al Hemaila Medical Center.

"Several health projects are currently nearing completion, which will contribute towards the development of our health system and provision of high-standard health services for citizens and residents," she said.

The minister added that these health projects are an integral part of the efforts exerted to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030 that states:"Qatar aspires to develop an integrated system for healthcare, managed according to world-class standards ...

All health services [of this system] will be accessible to the entire population." Dr Kuwari thanked the Private Engineering Office, which constructed the centre and has equally been participating in the construction of a number of important health projects with high-quality standards.

On his part, Fahad bin Mohammed al Naimi, executive director and acting secretary-general of the Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS), expressed his pleasure in participating in the official opening ceremony of the centre.

"The Centre is the latest joint achievement of Ministry of Public Health and the Qatar Red Crescent.

The ministry has thankfully entrusted us with the mission of managing and running a series of workers' health centres and units of Medical Commission in the framework of the strategic partnership between the two entities.

"Over these years of cooperation, QRCS has operated such health facilities efficiently and skillfully through the appointment of highly qualified and trained medical and administrative staff, which, in addition to QRCS's extensive expertise in the medical sector, has enabled it to provide distinctive service for patients," he said.
