NEW YORK: The State of Qatar, represented by the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), deposited the instrument of ratification of a contribution agreement worth $10 million with the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States to support the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action (2023-2031), in the presence of HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Fahad Al Sulaiti, Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development, andRabab Fatima, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States.

The Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations stressed that the contribution agreement on the Doha Programme of Action (2023-2031) reflects the State of Qatar's firm commitment to global development and collective action to support the most vulnerable groups, bring about lasting change and leave no one behind.

For his part, the Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development stressed the importance of this partnership with the United Nations, affirming that the contribution embodies the State of Qatar’s firm commitment to promoting global solidarity and sustainable development and enabling the least developed countries to overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential.

In turn, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations explained that this agreement will enable the United Nations Office to intensify its efforts in implementing programs with a tangible impact in line with the priorities of the Doha Work Program, noting that the partnership will focus on strengthening institutional capacities and benefiting from innovative solutions to address the multiple challenges facing the least developed countries, including poverty eradication, adaptation to climate change, and achieving sustainable development.
