Qatar Tourism sponsored the Doha International Diamond & Gem Conference (DIDGC) 2025, that was held at The Ned Hotel, Doha from January 29 to 31. The prestigious event brought together government officials, diamond industry leaders, and experts from more than 40 countries to explore key trends, foster collaboration, and address challenges in the diamond and gemstone industry.
The opening ceremony featured a welcome address by Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, chairman of Qatar Tourism and the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar. In his speech, he highlighted the significance of the conference as a platform for exploring transformative shifts in the market.
He also emphasised its synergy with the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, reinforcing Qatar’s vision of becoming a global luxury hub with world-class infrastructure, exceptional hospitality, and rich cultural heritage.
Alex Popov, Chair of the DIDGC Organising Committee, expressed pride in successfully organising the inaugural conference within three months and optimism about establishing a long-standing tradition in Qatar.
The three-day conference featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions led by prominent figures, including Minister of State for Foreign Trade HE Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, Minister of Minerals and Energy of Botswana Bogolo Joy Kenewendo, Executive Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre Ahmed bin Sulayem, President of the World Diamond Council Feriel Zerouki, and Vice Chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council Kirit Bhansali.
Delegates explored the latest trends and innovations shaping the diamond and gemstone sectors while experiencing Qatar’s renowned hospitality. The conference aligns with Qatar Tourism’s strategic goal of boosting the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.
By leveraging its advanced infrastructure, luxury offerings, and cultural heritage, Qatar continues to position itself as a premier global destination for business and high-end events.
