The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and Iraqi President Dr Barham Salih on Thursday discussed bilateral relations and the ways to further enhance the relations in economy, trade, investment, infrastructure and tourism.
During the official talks at the Amiri Diwan on Thursday, the Amir and the Iraqi president also discussed the reconstruction of Iraq.
The two leaders exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
At the outset of the talks, the Amir welcomed the Iraqi president and his accompanying delegation, praising the fraternal relations between the two countries and stressing that the Iraqi president’s visit would contribute to cementing the relations.
The Iraqi president lauded the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and voiced his aspiration to develop them to wider prospects.
At the end of the talks, the Iraqi president extended an invitation to the Amir to visit Iraq. The Amir welcomed the invitation.
Earlier upon arrival at the Amiri Diwan, the Iraqi president was accorded an official reception ceremony.
The Amir also hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Iraqi President and the delegation accompanying him at the Amiri Diwan.
After a successful visit to Qatar, the Iraqi president left Doha on Thursday.
The Iraqi president and the accompanying delegation were seen off upon departure from Hamad International Airport by Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Ali bin Ahmed al Kuwari, Acting Charge d’Affaires
of the Embassy of Qatar in Iraq HE Hussein Ali al Fadala and the Acting Charge d’Affaires of the Iraqi Embassy in Qatar HE Dr Abdulsattar al Janabi.
