TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORKDOHAThe Translation and Training Center (TTC) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) will commence a new cycle of its specialized translation and interpreting workshops, promoting individual, professional, and community development throughout the region. The expert-led, highly practical training sessions, which are now open for registration, will take place on a continuous basis between August 28 and May 31, 2023.The workshops are designed to improve and broaden the skill sets required of practicing translators, interpreters, and communication specialists in a variety of professional contexts. Participants will learn best practices that meet professional standards in business and finance, medicine, media, and audiovisual translation by connecting the practical and theoretical aspects.Professional Interpreting Fundamentals, Professional Translation Fundamentals, Translation and Technology: TTC’s workshops include SDL Trados, Business Arabic Writing, Master the Techniques of Note-Taking, Translating Sports, Legal Translation, Business and Finance Translation, Medical Translation, and Revision and Quality Assurance.TTC is part of the Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII) at HBKU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the workshops will be held in person at Penrose House in Education City.Nada Al Mahmeed, Director at TII’s TTC, said: “Our workshops are designed for participants to develop marketable skills based on industry-aligned, real-life scenarios. This approach has enabled the Translation and Training Center to make an appreciable impact on the social, economic, and workforce development across the region through our high quality training opportunities.”
