The Pakistani community in Qatar celebrated their country’s Independence Day with traditional fervour and enthusiasm.The celebrations of the day kicked-off with a prestigious and impressive flag hoisting ceremony held at the Pakistan embassy. Pakistan’s Ambassador HE Syed Ahsan Raza unfurled the white-green Pakistani flag to the tune of Pakistan’s national anthem. The Pakistan Engineers Forum (PEF) organised a colourful event to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day at Pistachio Restaurant. PEF President Riyaz Bakali, Asfandiar Ansari, Hamid Rasool, Dr Akmal Rana and Ajmal Ch spoke on the occasion and paid glowing tributes to the sacrifices of the leaders of Pakistan Movement. Jamshaid Bajwa presented Dr Mohammad Iqbal’s poem on the occasion.A large number of community members and representatives of different Pakistani forums attended the event hosted by Head of Pakistan Community Qatar Malak Nawar Khan Wazir at his residence in Ain Khalid. Community Welfare Attache Waheedullah Khan was the chief guest. Nasir Khan Wazir welcomed the guests. PEF President Riyaz Bakali presented a Sindhi Ajrak (shawl) to Wazir. Malik Nawar thanked all the guests and urged them to work wholeheartedly for the development and progress of Qatar and Pakistan. He called upon his compatriots to respect the rules and regulations of Qatar which has provided them excellent living and working conditions.Chairman of Souvenir Group Haji Said Badshah organised a colourful event at Souvenir General Hospital (SGH) located at Dilazak Road, Peshawar. A large number of community members and children took part in the event. The group has offices in China, Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Pakistan.Members of Bangash Ittihad Qatar (BIQ) gathered at the residence of Jangrez Bangash to celebrate their country’s Independence Day. A special cake was cut to mark the occasion presided over by Haji Mohammad Aslam. Members of BIQ exchanged Independence Day greetings and stressed on the need to organise events on the national days of Pakistan and Qatar with regularity and underlined the importance of unity among members on the issues related to Pakistan.
