Tribune News NetworkDohaSchools and kindergartens across Qatar will reopen on Tuesday as hundreds of thousands of children are set to return to their classrooms, most of them to start a new academic year.Although the threat of COVID-19 resurgence has been significantly lowered, some form of precautions is still in place. Students, teachers and other employees are required to turn up with a negative rapid antigen test, taken at least 48 hours ago. While the staff members require a green-colour code on COVID-19 contact-tracing app Ehteraz to gain entry, everyone on campus are expected to wear masks.“My daughter is thrilled to go back to school after the two-month summer vacation. She is really looking forward to meeting her friends and teachers,” said Indian expatriate Hanan M Ali. Her daughter Amreen is set to resume her Grade Two classes at an Indian school, many of which began their academic year in April.“For students, perhaps the biggest draw of going back to the school this year would be the reopening of the canteens,” Hanan added. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education launched a “Back To School” campaign three days ago under the slogan “With Education, We Build Qatar”. The campaign, which will go on until August 20, targets all kindergarten and primary school students and includes a range of various educational, artistic, entertainment and electronic events, in addition to showing awareness films containing general tips and guidelines in schools, guidelines for riding the school bus safely, and adherence to sitting instructions and etiquette.The “Back to School” campaign is one of the most important events organized by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for school students, their parents, and relatives, and aims to renew communication between the student and their school and prepare them psychologically and mentally to return to school in a positive way, bringing them joy and pleasure during their journey towards knowledge.
