TRIBUNE NEWS NETWORKDOHAQatar Charity (QC) has signed an agreement to drill 50 wells for the benefit of 10,000 people in the Albanian municipality of Fieri.The agreement is part of Qatar Charity’s efforts to help the country’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector.Qatar’s ambassador to Albania HE Ali bin Hamad Al Marri; Nada Abdulrahman Al Sayed, Counselor; Armando Subashi, Mayor of the Municipality of Fieri; Enkelejda Peshkpia, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Fieri; and Mahmoud Abbas Shaker, Director of Qatar Charity Albania office, attended the signing ceremony.Qatar’s ambassador to Albania, spoke at the ceremony and praised the strength of relations between Qatar and Albania and their people, stating that Qatar places a high value on strengthening relations and improving cooperation with Albania in a variety of fields.He also stated that these projects are a gift from the people of Qatar to the people of Albania through Qatar Charity. He emphasized Qatar’s previous support for Albania and its people, particularly in times of crisis.Armando Subashi, Mayor of Fieri, praised Qatar’s efforts and ongoing assistance to Albania and its people. He also praised Qatar Charity’s role in implementing quality projects, expressing his delight at the signing of the agreement.He went on to say that this agreement will help to alleviate the hardships that the people of the municipality face, and that he hopes to expand cooperation between Qatar Charity and the municipality.During the ceremony, HE Ali bin Hamad Al Marri and Armando Subashi distributed 500 school uniforms to orphans and students sponsored by Qatar Charity.At the conclusion of the ceremony, the mayor of the municipality presented the Qatari ambassador with a gift in recognition of his efforts and the role of Qatar Charity in providing services in Albania.It is worth noting that Qatar Charity has been working in many fields, including social welfare, education, relief, and community service, in addition to implementing seasonal projects, since its establishment in the Albanian capital Tirana in 1994.Qatar Charity sponsors 6,000 people, including orphans, people with special needs, low-income families, and students. It has a model school with over 400 students, as well as a training center that provides computer and language training to over 1,500 students each year. More than 500 wells have been drilled by Qatar Charity in schools, hospitals, and other locations.
