Dhaka: Two suspected militants died during a raid by security forces in a central Bangladeshi district, police said on Tuesday. The chief of police for Bangladesh's counterterrorism unit, Monirul Islam, said the suspects - a man and a woman - are believed to have killed themselves by exploding bombs after security forces cordoned off their hideout in Narsingdi district, nearly 50 kilometres south-east of the capital Dhaka. Islam said the militants are members of a faction of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), a radical Islamist group responsible for the deadly cafe attack in Dhaka that killed 22 civilians, mostly foreign nationals, in July 2016.
