US actor Tom Cruise and the two French bands Air and Phoenix will appear at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday, Le Parisien reported on Tuesday.
The newspaper said Cruise would be involved as part of the symbolic handover of the Olympic flag from Paris to Los Angeles, the 2028 Games host which counts Hollywood among its districts.
The American action star is planning a stunt on the façade of the Stade de France and has already filmed a scene around the famous “Hollywood” sign in Los Angeles, the report added.
Air and Phoenix, two bands that have also enjoyed success outside France, are set to perform at the ceremony on Sunday but there was initially no official confirmation.
So far, organizers have only announced that the show, which takes place in the Stade de France stadium, will deal with a dystopia in which there will no longer be an Olympic Games.
The spectacular opening ceremony on July 26, which was held on the River Seine and around landmarks of Paris rather than a traditional stadium, was both praised and criticized.
