Floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains in Nepal have killed at least 50 people and injured 20 others~in the last two weeks, officials said on Wednesday.
The extreme weather has affected 36 of Nepal's 77 districts, said Ram Krishna Subedi, a spokesman of the Home Ministry.~Nine people were reported missing~and infrastructure, including bridges and roads, was damaged, he added.
"The government has mobilized military and police personnel and other emergency workers to the sites. We have also ordered them to find an alternative where roads and bridges have been damaged,"he said.
Subedi said the authorities have distributed relief materials such as tents, mattresses and blankets to communities. The country's low-lying southern plains have been worst-hit.
Several highways, including a major highway connecting the capital Kathmandu with the rest of the country, have been obstructed due to the landslides, local media reported on Wednesday.
