DOHA: Minister of the Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on Wednesday witnessed the departure ceremony of the Qatari security forces for the Republic of France, to participate in securing the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will be held from July 26 to August 11.

This participation reflects the strength of the growing strategic partnership between Qatar and France, especially in the security fields, and comes within the framework of an administrative agreement on security cooperation that was signed between the two countries in February.

The agreement was signed on the Qatari side by Minister of Interior and Commander of the Lekhwiya Internal Security Force HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa. Al Thani, while it was signed on the French side by Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories of the French Republic HE Gerald Darmanin.

The Qatari security forces participate in security operations with members representing groups, units, specialised security teams, and logistical work teams.

This participation confirms the experience gained by the Qatari security forces in organising and securing major global events, which represents a sustainable legacy for Qatar and the world.
