SARAJEVO: Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater is taking part in a discussion titled ‘From the Balkans to Gaza: A Critical Examination of Genocide’ in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Wednesday evening.

Al Khater in a social media post said it was an “honour to take part in such a timely event alongside HE Natasa Musar, the President of Slovenia, and HE Benjamina Karic, the mayor of Sarajevo”, at the historic Sarajevo National Theatre.

She also thanked the Center for Advanced Studies, the Islam and Muslims Initiative, and Al Jazeera Balkans “for organising this critical discussion, a day before the Srebrenica memorial, while the genocide is ongoing in Gaza”.

The seminar will delve into comparisons between the Srebrenica genocide, the Sarajevo siege, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

It will also address the global surge in Islamophobia and examine potential connections between the rise of the far-right, Islamophobia, and colonial expansion in Palestine.
