ALGIERS: Chairman of the Qatar Chamber HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani has praised the strong fraternal relations between Qatar and Algeria, pointing to cooperation in various fields, especially trade and investment, thanks to the sound directives of the wise leadership of the two countries.

This came during his meetings with Algerian ministers and officials during his current visit to Algeria, which aims to strengthen trade and investment relations between the Qatari and Algerian private sectors, and increase the industrial investments of the Qatari private sector in Algeria, as well as attracting Algerian investments to Qatar.

These meetings took place withLieutenant General Saïd Changriha, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, Ali Aoun, Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Tayeb Zitouni, Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, and Salah Eddine Taleb, Governor of the Central Bank of Algeria.

The chairman of the Qatar Chamber affirmed the desire of Qatari businessmen to learn about the investment opportunities available in Algeria, especially in the industrial sector, explaining the keenness of the Qatar Chamber to enhance cooperation with the Algerian side, by establishing partnerships and commercial alliances between businessmen from the two countries to establish projects whether in Qatar or in Algeria, which enhances trade exchange between the two countries and benefits their economies.

He said that trade exchange between the two countries amounted to about QR297mn in 2023, compared to QR218mn in 2022, achieving a growth of 36 percent, pointing out that enhancing mutual investments will lead to further growth in trade exchange.

In this context, the chairman of the Qatar Chamber discussed, during his meeting with the Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, ways to enhance cooperation between the private sectors in the two countries in the industrial fields.

During his meeting with the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, he also discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership between the two countries, especially in the industrial fields, and reviewed the successful experiences in these fields of the two countries, and opportunities for cooperation in the field of manufacturing industries, especially in the field of food industries, in addition to discussing investment opportunities in other industrial sectors.

The Algerian Minister of Industry called on Qatari businessmen to invest in industrial projects in Algeria, stressing the importance of cooperation between the two sides to establish partnerships that serve the economies of the two countries.

The chairman of the Qatar Chamber also met with the Minister of Commerce and Export Promotion.

They discussed mechanisms for promoting trade cooperation between the two countries, and emphasizing the role of the private sector in stimulating mutual investments and increasing the level of trade exchange. In addition to discussing during his meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank, ways to enhance bilateral relations in particular in the financial, banking and insurance sectors.
