DR Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti, General Manager of the Cultural Village-Katara, inaugurated the 'Words of Gold' exhibition by Qatari artist Iman al Saad in building 22 on Monday.
The exhibition, which continues until the end of this month, includes a distinctive collection of paintings in which the artist celebrated verses from the Holy Quran, written in various calligraphies in gold.
In this context, the artist Iman al Saad said:"I dedicated my work in the first exhibition on the verses of the Holy Quran to my late mother Amna Mahmoud al Jaidah, as she was the first to teach the Holy Quran in Qatar, and the profits of the whole exhibition will donated on behalf of my mother to Qatar Charity."
Iman said that she chose the title 'Words of Gold' for this exhibition for two principal reasons. First, she wanted to refer to what she had written from the Quranic verses, as they were worth to be written in gold, and the second reason was that she used gold in all of her paintings.
Iman added:"In my early days I learned and practiced the Diwani font a lot so I touched its beauty, and I was excited to learn other calligraphies. So, my paintings include the Diwani, the Kufi, the Moroccan kufi and the Sonbeli. In the coming days, I will use the other fonts." (TNN)
