Qatar’s gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices (real GDP) increased by 1.2 percent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same quarter in the previous year, according to the preliminary estimates of gross domestic product (GDP) at current and constant prices for the third quarter of 2023 released by Planning and StatisticsAuthority (PSA) on Thursday.

The estimates have been produced with data collected through the Quarterly Economic Indicator Survey and from other source agencies.

The quarterly GDP at constant prices in the third quarter of 2023 is estimated at QR 177.334 billion, an increase of 1.2 percent over QR 175.2 billion in the third quarterof 2023.

When compared to the revised estimate of QR 170.479 billion in the second quarter of 2023, an increase of 4 percent is recorded.

According to PSA, the quarterly GDP at current prices in the third quarter of 2023 is estimated at QR198.285 billion. This represents a decrease of 12.9 percent compared to the estimate of QR 227.781 billion in the third quarter of 2022. When compared to the revised estimate of QR186.753 billion in the previous quarter of 2023, an increase of 6.2 percent is recorded.

In the mining and quarrying activities, the nominal gross value added (GVA) estimate of mining and quarrying activities is estimated at QR79.370 billion in the third quarter of 2023, which shows a decrease of 25.7 percent over the estimate of QR 106.760 billion in the third quarter of 2022.

Compared to the revised estimate of QR73.040 billion in the previous quarter, an increase of 8.7 percent in the GVA of this sector is recorded.

The real GVA of these activities is estimated at QR65.876 billion in the third quarter of 2023, which shows an increase of 2.3 percent compared to the estimate of QR 64.370 billion in the third quarter of 2022. Compared to the revised estimate of QR65.374 billion in the second quarter of 2023, an increase of 0.8 percent in the real GVA of this sector is also recorded.

As for the non-mining and quarrying activities, the nominal GVA of non-mining and quarrying activities is estimated at QR 118.915 billion in the third quarter of 2023, which shows a decrease of 1.7 percent over the estimate of QR 121.021 billion in the third quarter of 2022.

Compared to the revised estimate of QR 113.713 billion in the previous quarter, an increase of 4.6 percent isrecorded.

The real GVA of non-mining and quarrying activities is estimated at QR111.458 billion in the third quarter of 2023, which shows an increase of 0.6 percent over the estimate of QR110.830 billion in the third quarter of 2022. When compared to the revised estimate of QR105.105 billion in the second quarter of Q2, an increase of 6 percent is recorded.
