DOHA: Qatar University has launched its new strategy for the years 2023-2027,which aims to lay the necessary foundations to achieve its ambitions and goals during the next four years, with a focus on raising the quality of academic education in accordance with international standards.

In a press conference held on Thursday, the university reviewed the most prominent features of its strategy aimed at developing educational programs that suit modern technological and scientific developments to qualify students to face future challenges efficiently.

On this occasion, Dr Omar Al-Ansari, President of Qatar University, said, “This strategy came after diligent work for more than an academic year,” pointing out that part of the effort expended was focused on evaluating the previous strategy and the challenges that the university faced.

He noted that the new strategy focuses more on the university's role in its surrounding community, in order for it to be an active and influential element in society, stressing that the efforts made aimed to push the university to work in one direction, which is to serve the country and achieve the desired national goals.

For his part, Dr Khaled Al-Khanji, Head of Strategy and Development at Qatar University, highlighted that the new strategy focuses more on the university’s role in its surrounding community. This reflects the university’s commitment to being an engine of change and a source of innovation, praising the university’s prominent and important role in shaping and directing the local and national community.

He spoke about the added value of the broad participation from various parties in developing the new strategy, pointing out that this version of the strategy witnessed broad participation by many parties at the university and outside it to prepare it, which reflected the university’s commitment to achieving excellence and comprehensiveness in all its academic and research fields.

He stressed that the strategy is not just a document, but rather an interactive process that expresses the aspirations and ideas of all participants, as well as a means that shows the university’s commitment to benefiting from the skills and experiences of its members and focuses on how the university can be a house of expertise that contributes effectively to the progress and development of society.

Regarding the main objectives of the strategic plan, Al-Khanji said, “It includes several basic objectives, including providing flexible educational programs that are compatible with the axes of excellence in education and the characteristics of Qatar University graduates in accordance with current and future needs and enhancing the extracurricular student experience to achieve continuity and student success,” indicating that the university aims to strengthen its leadership in inter-education for health professions, and providing innovative research that meets the health needs of the country, in addition to enhancing the quality of research and raising the degree of its impact in specific areas in response to the needs of society.

He also pointed out that the new strategy includes developing the university’s human resources, raising the efficiency and effectiveness of support services, developing the university campus in a way that supports the university’s mission and vision, increasing funding sources, and diversifying investments. To ensure sustainability and continuous development.

In addition, student Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed, head of the Student Representative Council, stressed the prominent role played by students in forming the new strategy for Qatar University, noting that the university was keen to involve students in preparing the strategy and listen to their interventions and suggestions, explaining that the university places its students at its priority, and makes among them is its ultimate strategic goal, and it works hard to prepare them well. To be qualified cadres capable of meeting the needs of the national state.

Al-Sayed praised the positive future impact of the new strategy on the university and students, stressing that it is not just a plan or document on paper, but rather a real expressive tool for the university’s strategic thinking in improving the student experience and life.
