DOHA: The Department of Meteorology has issued a cautionary alert regarding the anticipated weather conditions for Thursday, warning residents and sailors alike to brace themselves for a tumultuous day ahead.

According to the daily weather report released by the department, inshore regions can expect cloudy skies accompanied by moderate to heavy rain, occasionally punctuated by thunderstorms. The report highlights the looming threat of thundery rain coupled with strong gusts of wind, potentially leading to reduced horizontal visibility.

Offshore areas are also projected to experience similar conditions, with scattered rain and intermittent thunderstorms forecasted. Sailors are advised to exercise extreme caution as strong winds and high seas are anticipated, further exacerbating the challenging maritime conditions.

Wind patterns are predicted to range from southeasterly to southwesterly at speeds of 08 - 18 knots inshore and 10 - 20 knots offshore, with the possibility of gusts reaching up to 40 knots during thundery spells. Visibility is expected to diminish significantly during periods of thundery rain, plummeting to 1 kilometer or less inshore and to similarly restricted levels offshore.

Sea states are anticipated to be tumultuous, with inshore waves reaching heights of 2 - 4 feet, escalating to 5 feet during thundery rain, while offshore waves may surge to heights of 3 - 6 feet, escalating to a staggering 10 feet during thundery conditions.

In light of these warnings, residents and sailors are urged to stay informed about weather updates and to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and well-being throughout the day.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation progresses.
