Crown Princess of Sweden HRH Princess Victoria Ingrid Alice Desiree met with Minister of Social Development and Family HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad in Stockholm on Thursday.

The meeting was part of the minister’s official working visit to Sweden aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of social and development work.

Misnad emphasised the importance of the visit in light of the distinguished relations between the two countries, expressing hope that its outcomes would contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian, social and developmental sectors for the benefit of both nations and their peoples.

The minister also discussed with her Swedish counterpart, Minister for Social Services Camilla Waltersson Gronvall, in the presence of State Secretary to the Minister for Social Services Minna Ljunggren and Ambassador of Qatar to Sweden HE Nadia bint Ahmed Al Sheebi, avenues of mutual cooperation and exchange of expertise regarding the development of social work mechanisms. They also consulted on the latest developments in scientific research that serve those benefiting from security and social services programmes.

Misnad, accompanied by Ljunggren, visited the headquarters of the National Board of Health and Welfare to learn about the mechanisms of social services and child protection provided by the Board, discussing ways to exchange scientific and practical experiences in this regard.

She also invited her Swedish counterpart Camilla Waltersson Gronvall and Minister for Older People and Social Security Anna Tenje to visit Qatar to deepen discussion on ways and mechanisms for exchanging experiences.

The Qatari and Swedish sides discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries, as well as ways to enhance them.

They also addressed the most prominent social issues of mutual interest, including social security, child and women protection, family preservation, support for persons with special needs, the elderly, and persons with disabilities in conflict and war zones.

Misnad and her Swedish counterpart exchanged a declaration of intent to deepen bilateral relations and joint work, paving the way for the exchange of technical and legal expertise in the field of social work, which would lead to future agreements to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

She hailed the remarkable development of relations between Qatar and Sweden, especially with the annual political consultations since 2019, which reflects the similarity of visions on bilateral issues.
