WASHINGTON: Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari participated in a discussion organised by Georgetown University in Washington, DC, to discuss Qatar's GDP growth, diversification plans and international investments journey, World Cup economic legacy and impact, GCC economic development and challenges to regional economic integration.

The discussion comes during the Minister of Finance's participation in the annual Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, held between April 15 - 20, in Washington DC, USA.

Explaining the growth of Qatar's GDP, he stressed the efforts made by Qatar to ensure financial sustainability, and to achieve the goals of the national vision for 2030.

Hesaid: "The economic growth achieved by Qatar has been among the highest/strongest of any country globally in recent decades. Our GDP has increased around 14-fold since the start of the century."

The minister also discussed the economic legacy and impact of the World Cup, pointing out that the completion of many major projects that preceded the World Cup enabledQatar to gradually reduce budget allocations in major projects while continuing to invest in vital projects across sectors such as education, healthcare and tourism, in addition to expanding sustainable urban infrastructure.
