DOHA: The American "TIME" magazine has included Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani among the “100 Most Influential People” in the world list for 2024.

The magazine said the choice to include HE Sheikh Mohammed in the list came in view of his prominent role in the negotiations between the Hamas movement and Israel, "which resulted during the recent period in reaching a ceasefire for a week and the release of more than 100 prisoners."

“HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, in his dual role as Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, has ridden point on the turbulent negotiations that so far have produced a weeklong cease-fire and the release of more than 100 hostages. In Qatar, host to both a massive US air base and a Taliban office, balancing acts are a court tradition,” TIME magazine noted.

The choice also came due to the PM’s role as a mediator in other troubled areas, including South America.

“And even before October 7, the 43-year-old Premier had impressed US officials as go-between in other trouble spots, including in South America,” it added.
