DOHA: The Meteorological Department has issued a cautionary advisory regarding impending severe weather conditions expected to impact coastal areas and sea navigation.

According to the department's forecast, thunderstorms and strong winds are anticipated along the coast, with intermittent periods of reduced horizontal visibility. Additionally, at sea, heavy thunderstorm rain coupled with high waves poses risks to maritime activities.

The weather outlook for coastal regionsindicates partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rainfall, potentially accompanied by intense thunderstorms and localized dust disturbances. Similarly, maritime conditions are expected to deteriorate with cloudy skies and intermittent heavy thunderstorm rain.

Wind patterns are projected to be predominantly northeasterly to northwesterly along the coast, reaching speeds between 20 and 30 knots with gusts up to 40 knots during thunderstorms. At sea, winds are forecasted to vary from northeasterly to southeasterly, with speeds ranging between 22 and 32 knots, potentially gusting up to 40 knots. These wind conditions may shift northwestward by evening.

Horizontal visibility is predicted to fluctuate between 3 and 6 kilometers, occasionally dropping to one kilometer or less in specific coastal areas.

In terms of wave heights, coastal regions can expect waves ranging from 3 to 5 feet, while sea conditions may witness waves between 8 and 11 feet, escalating to 14 feet during thunderstorms.

Residents and maritime operators are advised to exercise caution and stay updated on weather bulletins. The highest expected temperature in Doha is forecasted to reach 26 degrees Celsius.

As the Meteorological Department continues to monitor developments, residents are urged to adhere to safety protocols and stay informed about any updates regarding weather conditions.
