DOHA: The Enrollment Management Department at Qatar University has announced the commencement of early registration for summer and fall courses for 2024, starting on Tuesday.

In a statement on Monday, the university stated that the summer 2024 (1) semester will begin on June 2, with the summer 2024 (2) semester starting on June 30, 2024. It clarified that the fall 2024 semester will commence on August 25, with the last day for add/drop for the fall 2024 semester being Aug. 29, 2024.

Director of the Enrollment Management Department at QU, Noora Al Marri, emphasized the importance of students registering for their courses during the early registration period to secure a seat in the desired courses and avoid delaying registration until the start of the semester.

She noted that early registration for graduate students and students in the Academic Excellence Program will begin on Tuesday, while registration will open for undergraduate students who have completed 90 or more credit hours on Wednesday. Those who have completed 75 or more credit hours will be able to register on Thursday. Students who have completed 60 credit hours or more can register on April 21. Those who have completed 45 credit hours or more can register on April 22. Registration will be open to all students on April 24 until the end of the add/drop period for the summer 2024 and fall 2024 semesters.

Al Marri added that the university provides waiting lists for course registration, allowing students to add their names to closed groups' waiting lists and activate the waitlist service for the summer 2024 and fall 2024 semesters starting from the early registration period on Tuesday.

She emphasized that the university has provided students with the schedule of courses offered in the summer 2024 and fall 2024 semesters to allow them to prepare their study schedules. She advised students to monitor the emails sent by the university, containing registration instructions, and important tips to follow before starting the registration process, and ensure there are no holds that may hinder registration.

Director of Center for Academic Advising, Wedad Rebeeh, stated that all academic advisors are fully prepared to provide support, assistance, and guidance to all student categories. Students can schedule appointments with their academic advisors through the Appointment Manager program and choose the appropriate session type, whether remote or in-person.

She explained that daily waitlists are provided for academic advising appointments, allowing students to register and be contacted at the end of the day if there are no available slots with advisors. This approach aims to accommodate more students during this period and reduce waiting times until available slots are open.

She pointed out that students will be able to conduct academic advising sessions with their academic advisors to discuss their needs and answer any questions related to their academic plans and suitable courses for registration during the summer 2024 and fall 2024 semesters. She stressed that students should communicate early and continuously with their academic advisors, not only during the early registration, add/drop periods, to avoid peak appointment times.
