DOHA: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has announced the start of the turtle nesting season from April 1 to August 1 when rare and endangered sea turtles begin to lay their eggs on the northern beaches of the country.

It is worth noting that sea turtles, including the hawksbill nesting in Qatar, are considered migratory species and are protected under national laws and regulations, in addition to the provisions of regional and international agreements, due to their sensitive environmental condition according to the classification of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUNC).

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has affirmed Qatar's interest in preserving biodiversity and protecting all local creatures threatened with extinction because of their importance in preserving the environmental balance, including the project to protect hawksbill sea turtles.
