For Filipino Muslims and non-Muslims in Qatar, there is no better time for charity than Ramadan.

This holy month brings families and communities together, allowing everyone to celebrate their faith and cultural differences through humanitarian causes.

Taking the lead in sharing iftar meals, as well as smiles, to foster communal unity this Ramadan, are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) like Mega Cervantes.

The Filipino influencer and community leader continues to advocate the spirit of volunteerism. He pledged support in multiple volunteering projects in Qatar for several years now.

Cervantes served for the Heat Project that benefited the laborers and workers during the summer season in Qatar. He then volunteered for the ‘Be Their Hope’ campaign of Qatar Museums (QM) and Qatar Red Crescent for the victims of earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. He also supported iftar drives, pre-pandemic relief campaigns, and other charitable programs of local organisations like Qatar Cancer Society and Qatar Diabetes.

This month, the OFW philanthropist took part in an iftar drive last Saturday with the Qatar Volunteers group. He is set to join another iftar campaign next Friday with Al Jaber Opticians, headed by Mildred Ngoaban Lloren, a Filipina representative of STONE Guardians Brotherhood Inc. (SGBI) and Guardians Legions Qatar (GLQ).

Last year, Lloren and her organisation with predominantly Filipino members, hosted their 11th Traffic Awareness and iftar drive to curb reckless driving during iftar rush hours and distribute iftar packs to motorists across Qatar.
