DOHA: Residents and seafarers in Qatar have been cautioned by the Meteorological Department about thearrival of strong winds and high waves along the coast.

According to the department's latest advisory, Thursday's weather along the coastal regions is expected to remain fair and moderate throughout the day. However, maritime areas are likely to witness challenging conditions with the onset of strong winds and turbulent seas.

The forecast indicates that coastal winds will predominantly blow from the southwesterly to northwesterly direction, with speeds ranging between 5 and 15 knots. In certain areas, gusts could intensify, reaching up to 22 knots during daytime hours. Meanwhile, at sea, wind patterns are projected to be primarily northwesterly, blowing at speeds ranging from 12 to 22 knots. Gusts might escalate to 26 knots intermittently, posing additional risks to maritime activities.

Horizontal visibility along the coast and at sea is anticipated to vary between 5 and 10 kilometers, potentially impacting navigation and coastal activities.

Wave heights are forecasted to be considerable, measuring between 3 and 5 feet along the coast and escalating to 4 to 6 feet, occasionally peaking at 8 feet in open waters.

In the capital city of Doha, residents can expect temperatures to peak at 30 degrees Celsius, despite the turbulent weather conditions elsewhere.

The Meteorological Department advises residents and marine operators to exercise caution and adhere to safety protocols during this period of heightened weather activity. Boaters and fishermen are particularly urged to stay informed about weather updates and consider postponing any non-essential maritime activities until conditions improve.

For further updates and alerts, residents are encouraged to stay tuned to official weather advisories provided by the Meteorological Department.

The Meteorological Department remains vigilant and continues to monitor weather patterns closely to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents and visitors in Qatar.
