The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), in association with Hamad Medical Corporation and Safari Group, held a blood-donation camp at Safari Mall Abu Hamour, commemorating its 40th anniversary. More than 120 generous donors contributed to the noble cause, extending a lifeline to those in need.

Commencing at 8pm and concluding at 11.30pm on March 22, the event witnessed an overwhelming turnout. Sandeep Kumar, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy, who was the chief guest, lauded the community’s spirit of benevolence. He emphasized the profound impact of blood donation, noting that each contribution has the potential to save up to three lives.

ICBF President Shanavas Bava, in his address, highlighted the significance of donating blood during Ramadan, aligning with the Forum’s four-decade-long commitment to humanitarian endeavours.

ICC President A P Manikandan, ISC President E P Abdulrehman and Safari Group Managing Director Shaheen Backer echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the crucial role of blood donations in saving lives.

General Secretary Varkey Boban coordinated the proceedings, and reaffirmed ICBF’s commitment, mentioning that the blood-donation camp marked the fourth event of the day for ICBF, starting with a consular camp in Al Khor in the morning, then food distribution at two different locations in Doha, and finally, the blood-donation camp to mark end of an eventful and tireless day.

ICBF Secretary and In-charge of blood-donation camps Muhamed Kunhi in his welcome address underscored the critical importance of blood donation. ICBF Vice President Deepak Shetty, proposed a vote of thanks.

Presence of Apex body members including ICC General Secretary Mohankumar, Secretary Abraham Joseph, ISC Secretary Pradeep Pillai, and many other senior community leaders added to the event’s significance.

The successful execution of the camp was made possible through the coordination of ICBF Treasurer Kuldeep Kour Bahl, Managing Committee members Sameer Ahmed, Zareena Ahad, Shankar Goud, Abdul Raoof Kondotty, Kulwinder Singh and Advisory Council member T Ramaselvam. Their dedication ensured the smooth functioning of the camp, reflecting the unity and commitment of the Indian community in Qatar.
