DOHA: Qatar experienced a bout of dusty weather on Monday evening, leading to reduced horizontal visibility across many parts of the country.

The Qatar Meteorology Department had earlier predicted cloudy weather with scattered thundery rain as night fell, along with moderate to fresh Northwesterly to Northerly strong winds.

Throughout the day, scattered rain persisted over Northern and Central areas, occasionally turning thundery and accompanied by strong downdraft winds.

By evening, the Meteorology Department observed horizontal visibility dropping below 3km in most regions due to dust, prompting cautionary advisories for the public to exercise vigilance.

The morning forecast had already warned of thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and reduced visibility along the coast and at sea.

Coastal areas and maritime routes were expected to bear the brunt of thunderstorms alongside strong winds and diminished visibility, with intermittent cloudy spells and scattered thunderstorms forecasted for certain regions. Furthermore, the presence of dust was anticipated to prevail as the day progressed.

The Qatar Meteorology Department continues to monitor the situation closely and advises residents to stay updated on weather forecasts and exercise caution while commuting or engaging in outdoor activities, particularly due to reduced horizontal visibility caused by dusty conditions.

As the country navigates through this weather pattern, it underscores the importance of staying informed and prepared for various meteorological phenomena that can impact daily life and activities.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
