DOHA: Residents along the coast and sailors at sea are advised to brace for severe weather conditions as the Meteorological Department has issuesd a warning of imminent thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds.

The forecast predicts thunderstorms with powerful gusts along the coastline, coupled with reduced horizontal visibility due to suspended dust. At sea, sailors are cautioned of high waves exacerbated by strong winds, making maritime activities hazardous.

Winds along the coast are expected to shift from variable directions to predominantly northeasterly to easterly, reaching speeds of 8 to 18 knots, with gusts intensifying up to 30 knots during thunderstorms. Similarly, at sea, winds are forecasted to be northwesterly to northeasterly, ranging between 8 to 18 knots, with gusts reaching 30 knots during thunderous downpours.

Visibility levels are anticipated to decrease significantly, ranging between 4 to 8 kilometers on both the coast and sea, plummeting to two kilometers or less during thunderstorms.

Wave heights are projected to surge, measuring between 1 to 3 feet along the coast and escalating to 5 feet during thunderstorms. At sea, waves are expected to reach heights of 3 to 5 feet, escalating to a towering 10 feet amidst thunderous weather conditions.

In Doha, the temperature is anticipated to peak at 24 degrees Celsius amid these turbulent weather patterns.

Residents and seafarers are urged to exercise caution and stay updated with the latest weather advisories to ensure safety amidst the impending thunderstorms and strong winds.
