DOHA: As the weekend approaches, Qatar's Meteorology Department has issued a cautionary forecast, predicting thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and gusty winds to sweep across the region.

In a statement released through social media channels, the department highlighted the looming weather conditions expected to impact the nation over the next two days.

Friday, March 15, is projected to be overcast with intermittent showers throughout the day. Northeasterly to southeasterly winds are forecasted to range between 8 to 18 knots, occasionally surging up to 30 knots. Additionally, sea conditions are expected to deteriorate, with waves reaching heights of 1 to 3 feet, peaking at 9 feet during sporadic intervals.

Looking ahead to Saturday, March 16, the northern regions of Qatar are anticipated to bear the brunt of the storm, experiencing thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. Winds are predicted to shift from northeasterly to northwesterly, blowing at speeds of 5 to 15 knots, with gusts reaching up to 22 knots. Offshore, rain is expected to accompany the strong winds, with wave heights ranging between 1 to 3 feet, escalating to 7 feet during precipitation.

In light of the impending weather conditions, the Meteorology Department has urged residents and citizens to stay informed through official channels only, emphasizing the importance of staying updated on developments as the situation unfolds.
