The Palestinian Ministry of Interior (MoI) in the Gaza Strip has thanked Qatar for its continuous support to the Palestinian people, the latest of which was the provision of an urgent grant for the ailing health sector in the Gaza Strip.
"This support from Qatar is a source of thanks and appreciation from the Palestinian people," said Iyad al Bazm, spokesman for the interior ministry in the Gaza Strip."Over the last few years, the infrastructure and housing sector in Gaza has developed, thanks to the Qatari support."
Bazm said the press conference held by Chairman of the Qatar's National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza HE Ambassador Mohammed al Emadi at Al Shifa compound coincided with a protest by health workers for not receiving salaries for several months.
"The workers are going through difficult humanitarian conditions and tried to convey their message to Ambassador Emadi about the their problems," he said, adding that there was some anger on the part of some cleaners.
"The anger was not directed at Qatar or directed at Ambassador Emadi, but because of the circumstances in which they were living. Some tried to approach the car of Emadi to pass on the message and there was no attack at all on Emadi," he said.
Bazm said there are some malicious media that tried to portray the incident as an attack on Ambassador Emadi and attacking the Qatari role on the contrary.
"Qatar is welcome and everyone hopes that Qatar always stands up in all the crises experienced by the Gaza Strip," he said. (tnn)
