The Youth Committee of Al Shamal Sports Club will hold a football tournament in memory of the club’s Founder Ali Khaled Al Kubaisi from March 14 to 21 in the holy month of Ramadan.
Ras Laffan Program for Social Communication are the official sponsors. The organizing committee has allocated cups and prizes for the winning teams, with the winning team receiving a prize of QR30,000, the runners-up QR20,000 and the third placed team QR10,000.
A total of 12 teams have been divided into two groups and include Marine Academy, Al Saiqa, Ain Khaled, the Black Star, Al Waab and Falcons of the North in the first group, while the second group includes Zulal, Al Jasra Academy, Al Shaqab, Al Adam, Gaza and Ain Sinan.
On the opening day, Al Bukhari Academy will play Al Saiqa, while Ain Khaled will face Black Star, and Al Waab will meet Falcons of the North.
For his part, Ibrahim Hussein Al Sada, tournament director, expressed his great hope that the tournament will appear at a distinguished technical level, especially since it bears the name of the late Captain Ali Khaled Al Kubaisi, who made great contributions to Qatari football, wishing success to all participating teams in presenting wonderful competitions.
He said, “The wonderful prizes set by the tournament’s organizing committee will add fun and desire to the teams participating in the tournament.”
He also appreciated the importance and role of sponsorship from Ras Laffan Social Media Program.
