DOHA: The Ministry of Interior achieved a new milestone by winning the first prize in forensic sciences at the Global Police Summit held in Dubai from March 5 to 7.

The award was received by Brig Dr Ali Talib Afifa, Director of the Criminal Evidence and Information Department.

The Department participated in the summit through the 'Qatari Team for Disaster Victim Identification', which is internationally accredited by the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL). The Qatari team excelled in the field of forensic sciences by identifying victims of incident report No. 3431/2023 in the capital's security, utilizing the latest scientific methods to identify victims and linking relevant authorities under one umbrella, leading to a highly professional and timely accomplishment of the task.

The Qatari team for disaster victim identification wonfirst place, surpassing several international entities competing for the prize in the field of forensic sciences. The award was presented during the Global Police Summit by Lt Gen Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
