The Core Curriculum Programme (CCP), part of the Deanship of General Studies at Qatar University (QU), in partnership with the Leadership and Civic Engagement Department and Qatar Charity, organised a campaign titled ‘For Palestine’.

Activities of the campaign held to show solidarity with Gaza and Palestine, took place over the span of two days and included information sessions and a Charity Souq under the slogan ‘Leave your mark; create a smile’.

The organisation and management of the event was overseen by QU students and the total donations raised during the two-day event, for both male and female sections, amounted to approximately QR81,000. Additionally, a charity auction was held on the sidelines of the event, resulting in the sale of 30 art pieces for a total value of approximately QR30,000.

Dr. Saba Mansoor Qadhi, director of the CCP said on the occasion, “This event is part of our continuous efforts to raise awareness and show solidarity with the Palestinian cause, which is the primary concern for Muslims. We are proud of the students’ commitment and effective contribution to the success of this initiative.”

Dr. Abdelhamid Ahmed, CCP professor, emphasised the event’s success as a reflection of the leadership spirit and dedication of QU students in serving the community and fulfilling their role towards the Arab and Islamic nations.

Dr. Mohammad Al Khojah, CCP lecturer said, “This event reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting the values of generosity and solidarity in the cultural development of our university youth. We are committed to continuing our work in supporting humanitarian causes and achieving social justice.”

Maryam Al-Nuaimi, a third-year student in the College of Arts and Sciences, highlighted her participation for the purpose of raising awareness about the Palestinian issue. She, along with her colleagues, managed a booth selling Palestinian food, with its proceeds going towards donations for Gaza.

Mohammed Abdullah, a student, stated that the event once again proved the Qatari people’s solidarity with their Palestinian brothers, emphasising the continuous and enduring Arab solidarity with Palestine.
