DOHA: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change officially launched an air quality platform for the public on the ministry's website, under the patronage and in the attendance of Minister of Environment and Climate Change HE DrAbdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie.

The platform, inaugurated on the occasion of Qatar's Environment Day, boasts significant capabilities and advanced technology, enabling community members to assess air quality levels across the country through a display screen on the ministry's website.

The screen presents air quality data in easily understandable colour-coded indicators with high precision for each region in the country, utilizing 40 air quality monitoring stations adhering to the highest international standards distributed across all regions of the country.

On this occasion, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change emphasized that the focus on air quality is among the state's priorities and is part of its environmental strategy. He highlighted that the platform reflects the state's commitment to maintaining air quality according to the highest national and international standards, providing an accessible method for community members to accurately and reliably assess air quality levels in all areas.

For his part, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs Abdulhadi Al Marri pointed out that the platform's launch, coinciding with Qatar's Environment Day, reflects the national efforts exerted by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to safeguard citizens' health through constructive cooperation among various state entities to establish a comprehensive national air quality network. This network displays its data on a single screen on the ministry's website, ensuring easy access to information for all segments of society.

Director of the Environmental Monitoring and Inspection Department EngHassan Al Qasimiclarified that the air quality platform adopts a clear colour-based mechanism consistent with the global system used to display air quality data. The platform relies on dedicated air quality monitoring stations accredited by specialized agencies in the field, which operate continuously across all regions of the country.
