DOHA: Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) signed an agreement to sponsor the HH the Amir Cup and Qatari teams to bolster the QFA's growing role with all partners to achieve its objectives and strategy for the upcoming period.

QIIB Chairman and Managing Director Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani and President of QFA Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain attended the signing ceremony on Sunday, alongside several high-ranking officials from the two sides.

The sponsorship is a new window for QFA to have a productive partnership with one of the most important Qatari banks available in the Qatari banking sector with which QFA aspires to achieve further successes and ambitious projects.

Al Buainain said he is delighted to have this sponsorship agreement with QIIB, making it the key sponsor of HH the Amir Cup and the national teams in a three-year contract and a new partnership with ambitious visions.

For his part, QIIB Chairman and Managing Director Sheikh Dr Khalid congratulated the wise leadership for the great milestone the national team had achieved by winning the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 for the second consecutive time, emphasizing that Qatar's investment in the sporting facilities and infrastructure has been in tandem with investment in teams that generates boastful achievements.

The sponsorship agreement with QFA and its numerous details will hopefully be repleted with achievements and progress of Qatari football and other sports, hepointed out.

The QIIB CEO Dr Abdulbasit Ahmed Al Shaibei affirmed that the QIIB's three-year sponsorship of the Qatari teams and the HH the Amir Cup tournament is a great pride for all, especially since the national team is braced for critical obligations, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification (AFC), wishing them success in the upcoming tournaments.

The agreement comes within the framework of the steadfast keenness to align with the third Financial Sector Strategic Plan launched by Qatar Central Bank recently, whose content underscores the environmental, social, corporate and sustainability governance and conforms with the Qatar National Vision 2030, Al Shaibei pointed out.
