DOHA: The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) marked Safer Internet Day (SID) 2024, with a range of cybersecurity workshops aimed at boosting awareness of the rules of safe use of the Internet, and helping multiple society segments to combat cyber threats.

The workshops underscored the NCSA's preventive strategy that combat cybersecurity risks before evolving into attacks.

Director of NCSA's National Cyber Excellence Department, Dalal Al Aqidi said the NCSA was steadily striving to keep pace with international cybersecurity developments and digital safety via awareness-raising activities coinciding with these international occasions.

These efforts enhance Qatar's position as a leading country in raising awareness on cybersecurity and digital safety, some of whom designed for children and youths, based on the belief that cyberspace in Qatar is part of the international cyberspace, Al Aqidi said.

The SID affirms the elevating international interest in the rules of safe use of the Internet especially amid escalating cyber threats facing governments, institutions, communities, and individuals worldwide, she added.

First established within the EU countries in 2004, the SID then evolved into an annual world event celebrated on Feb 7 across 190 countries to raise awareness of a safer and better internet for all, especially for children and young people.
